You are indeed blessed by the presence of your guides. This blessing is shared actually by all human beings, indeed by all that exists. Yes, all that exists experiences a kind of guidance. Inanimate as well as animate are guided. They’re guided by the loving orderly energy that you refer to as God. You know God has created all, but in creating all that exists, there is no abandonment. You’re not created and then forgotten. All that exists has not been created and then ignored. The animals, the inanimate, the vegetables, fruits—all that you can think of in addition to human beings are viewed with love.

Your guides focus God’s love on your souls, but guides are also a part of every form of energy. Since all that exists contains energy, it is therefore a fact that all are connected in some way with God through a kind of guide. A guide does not teach a rock, but the guide helps the rock to maintain the energy that is required to be transformed from what may have been organic into the solid property of rock. The rock ensures the chemicals respond as they are designed. The guides are a focus that connects all that is with the Creator of all that is. Guides are the link.

When your awareness expands to encompass all that you see and feel and hear and touch, you are in a sense a kind of guide. When you respond compassionately to another, you are functioning as a kind of guide—a guide that focuses and directs the loving energy that is God outward to others, to what affects others, to what secures life as you perceive it.

Our function as guides is more spiritual than the function of others whose responsibilities reside in maintaining a natural order of energy. Guides do precisely that: they guide, they direct, they provide context, orientation, order—whether it is physical, chemical, or spiritual. Life after human life is filled with those opportunities to support, to secure, to uplift. Our function with human energy is the only such function you are currently aware of, but we also serve as guides for those who make the transition from physical to purely spiritual energies. You’re not aware of our activity other than what we tell you occurs, but all forms of energy receive and give support and direction, a kind of guidance.

Your lives as human beings are filled with what is necessary in the physical representation of human energy. You are also consumed by a sense of responsibility for all recognized energy forms. Your vision as human beings is by necessity limited. When you make the transition to a purely spiritual life, your awareness expands, your vision expands, your opportunities expand, your love expands. Ultimately, as you know, you develop the full expression of total love.

Those for whom you have a feeling of loss are engaged in this wider expansion of awareness. Their transitions are smooth, and they are surrounded with those who love them, yourselves included. The fact that you view those who have joined us in love is in itself of great assistance to their new life. It is not unusual to feel their presence, especially in those times that are not far removed from their passing, but they are with you. You are with them. There is virtually no separation. You must have faith to realize the full implications of this. You are not separated. The only change is a change in energy. There is no distance. There is no division per se.

You are aware of all that you can be aware of, but you must acknowledge the fact that there is much beyond your awareness. It is not your failing that prevents you from a wider vision. It is the nature of human life. It may sound illogical, but you often will grow more by contemplating what you don’t know than acknowledging what you do know. If you contemplate that your awareness of reality is limited, you will grow in your awareness. You will grow as a human being. It is not a condition that represents a kind of defeat when you don’t know, when you don’t see, when you don’t hear, smell, touch.

Your experiencing of human life ultimately involves making a leap in faith between what you know and what you believe. Knowledge and belief are somewhat different. Knowledge is concrete. Belief always incorporates the presence of faith. You believe because you have faith in something. You have knowledge because you have concrete experience—you see direct events, you have had a personal encounter. Whatever the context, knowledge is concrete. Belief is faith-based.

What lies at the side of belief may migrate and become knowledge, but it is far more interesting for us to observe your growth when what you know to be true becomes something that you believe to be true. Your growth as individuals can often be described as a transition from what you know toward what you believe. Human life is not, at its best, about what you know but rather what you believe. Human life is about developing the strength of faith, not merely the collection of bits of evidence. Those bits may be important, but only as they lead toward faith.

You are asked to believe in something far greater than what you are aware of directly. You are asked to grow in faith. You are asked to act in faith. When you are compassionate toward another, you have faith that such compassion is helpful. It is not a rational knowledge that tells you “if I respond this way, the outcome for another will be absolutely in a different way.”

You wonder about separation. You wonder about the impact of negativism. The answers to these questions center upon belief, not knowledge, for belief grows in its context. Knowledge may accumulate, but its growth is more limited. We say that you are never separated. You cannot prove that we are right or wrong. You can only in faith accept what is said, and in so doing, your beliefs expand. There is nothing we can do to guarantee that you accept the reality of no separation. You must take it on faith and then be open to those fleeting moments when that faith is affirmed.

Understanding negativism requires knowledge, but ultimately requires you to believe that which you cannot completely prove to be reality. Negativism is a force. It is a force because it exists. It is present. You see evidence of negative behavior. You see evidence of negative thought, for thought leads to action, and action is concrete and can therefore be observed. But the negative energy that we speak of is an energy that in itself has no power to grow.

Energy that is negative can attract energy that is also negative. Like attracts like. Love attracts love. Compassion attracts compassion. But this negative energy only expands with the addition of other negative energy; it is not in itself growing. There is no energy that makes a negative person more powerful. Can such negativism expand? Of course. It expands because others may join, but the power of that individual in reality is not expanding.

Conversely, energy which is positive and which reflects love expands constantly, for love needs to be expressed. Love needs to be expressed as opposed to negative energy. Negative energy needs others of like mind, but it does not expand. When you are loving toward another, there’s no room for the negative energy to enter because of the inherent energy that is love. You act lovingly toward another, and ultimately that other individual will respond with the same positive presence. Your gifts to others are whatever you do that is positive and supportive, that is loving. Those are gifts—gifts of spirit. When you expand negative energy, those are not gifts. They do not reflect the reality of God. They in no way enhance life. They serve to limit, to crush.

Positive energy always, always expands. It is always duplicated. It is never fully crushed. Positive energy exists even in the presence of fear, discouragement, anxiety. It is still capable of strengthening and reinforcing and affirming. It expands on its own. It enhances on its own. The negative force of jealousy, fear, anger cannot possibly grow on its own, but it can attract others who share that same energy. Your thoughts when positive, loving, supportive do assist others. If an individual is filled with negative thoughts, the greatest impact of those thoughts is on the individual whose energy is so negative. It is not nearly as powerful in reaching outward as positive thoughts.

There is an emptiness to negativity. It is an emptiness that cannot overcome what is positive. There is presence—it does exist—but it is not the same kind of power as that which is positive. Every human being is occasionally occupied by negative energy, but every human being has the potential for allowing the positive presence to dominate, and in so doing to reflect God by whatever name you may wish to identify that energy.

You are given life for the purpose of expanding what is good, expanding what is loving. You are given life to counter the influences of the dark. When you are surrounded by negative energy, be open to ways in which you can fill that void with light. The natural reaction is to pull away, but what is most loving is to provide a support, to provide a platform that can contribute to the transition from what is dark into what is light.

That is in a sense what we do in your lives. You have expressions of what is negative, and yet although we recognize that emptiness and we are fully aware of its implications, we jump into that void and we try to fill what is empty. We pour the water of life and love into that waiting vessel. No human experience, as you know, is all positive or all negative. You experience both. Our form of energy is only positive, and it is that loving presence which fills and illuminates and uplifts. We fill your soul. We illuminate your soul. We uplift your lives. We do all that God has empowered us to do to enhance your lives, to help you find meaning.

Your relationship to us is important. It is not special in terms of elevating you, but it is important as a component of your own growth. You are aware of this context of love because it is what each of you needs at the moment. Others grow without such awareness, and for those souls, that is entirely appropriate. But your souls grow on their own, and what is appropriate for the spirit now may be different than what is most appropriate at a later time.

You must therefore be patient with all who reject, all who doubt your own experience of spiritual growth through direct connection with your guides. Every soul is different. Every soul has different needs. Every soul has different experiences associated with human life. You are, as we say so often, where you ought to be. Your growth continues. You belong on that path that you travel, and where you are on your path is exactly where you should be.

Be patient as you wrestle with much that is shared. Be faithful. Be willing to live more with beliefs and less with knowledge. Be willing to see life as it may be rather than to be glued to what you know life is in the moment. Your growth will be assured, and you will continue in your understanding and in your loving to live as you were meant to live, experiencing through being vulnerable what it means to be loved, and reaching outward to give what you have received in love.

We bless each of you with God’s light that shines through us to your spirit. May your souls continue to be uplifted and held in the light.

Amen.
